When Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced the redesign of his office’s Post-Conviction Justice Unit in the spring, he said the lessons learned through the unit might help the office evaluate and potentially improve its overall work.

Bragg emphasized that benefit in a conversation this week regarding the case of 48-year-old Steven Lopez, a co-defendant of the Central Park Five whose conviction was vacated Monday following a joint motion from Bragg and Lopez’ attorney Eric Renfroe.
