The Tennessee Court of Appeals affirmed a jury’s finding that a family lawyer was entitled to damages after her former client failed to pay agreed-on fees.

Cynthia Cheatham entered into a contract with appellant James Lampkin as his counsel for a child custody case in 2019, according to the court’s July 7 opinion. Lampkin agreed to pay Cheatham $15,000 for her services, $8,000 of which remained unpaid after the Oct. 1 deadline.
