Corporate legal departments are bringing work in-house like never before, a move driven partly by rising concern about outside legal counsel costs but also by the need to provide challenging work to in-house attorneys to retain them in a tight market.

“I have a responsibility, particularly in the context of the Great Resignation and remote work, to focus on people’s professional development. I think that is one of the things I offer my colleagues,” said Eric Greenberg, chief legal officer of Cox Media Group, an Atlanta-based owner of radio and TV stations.
