The median CEO compensation package in 2021 was $14.7 million, The Wall Street Journal reported this week upon releasing its annual ranking of S&P 500 companies.

Most of that amount, the newspaper said, took the form of equity awards, noting that these could ultimately prove to be worth more or less than initially reported. CEOs’ median salary, bonus and other cash compensation amounted to $4.1 million.

The WSJ analysis comprised upward of 400 companies, not including those whose CEO changed during the year.

MyLogIQ LLC, a provider of public-company data and analysis, collected data from corporate proxy statement filed through May 6 by companies in the S&P 500 index with fiscal years that ended after June 30, 2021.
