Four federal judges and a judiciary leader have shared their war stories from serving as military lawyers in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps—known as JAG.

More than 65 federal judges (about a quarter of all federal judges with military experience) list time in JAG, according to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. The office has shared interviews and photos in honor of Veterans Day. Those interviewed said the JAG Corps transformed their legal careers and gave them responsibility and mentorship when they were fresh out of law school.
