A former Arizona Superior Court candidate is facing a felony offense of perjury for signing a false declaration that she lived in the state for nearly seven years, the state attorney general announced on Thursday.

Sandra Finch Russell, 48, who ran as an independent in November for a judge’s seat on Cochise County Superior Court, falsely stated on a declaration of qualification that she would “have been a citizen of Arizona for 7 years” at the time of the November 2020 general election. She signed the false statement on April 6, 2020, according to the indictment.
