As law firms plot the office of the future, it’s becoming clear that many are not ready to abandon an in-person environment. But priorities have shifted, and firms are acutely focused on how the office functions as a means of talent retention and culture upkeep.

“In general, the average law firm today is reducing its footprint per attorney. The pandemic further reinforced this trend, as many attorneys are still working remotely,” said Ron Burkhardt, a managing director at Newmark, who sits in the firm’s Los Angeles office.
