A Texas abortion clinic, along with a coalition of abortion providers and other organizations, on Thursday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to take up the constitutionality of the state’s six-week abortion ban without waiting for a lower appellate court ruling.

The abortion providers urged the justices to decide: “whether a State can insulate from federal-court review a law that prohibits the exercise of a constitutional right by delegating to the general public the authority to enforce that prohibition through civil actions.”
