The American Petroleum Institute and other trade associations of the oil and gas industry sued the U.S. Department of the Interior and related government agencies Monday in Louisiana Western District Court. The complaint, filed by Beveridge & Diamond and Gieger Laborde & Laperouse, contends that President Biden’s January 2021 executive order on climate change unlawfully halted new federal oil and gas lease sales and seeks a court order compelling the agencies to proceed with lease sales. The case is 2:21-cv-02506, American Petroleum Institute et al v. United States Department of the Interior et al.
