The Texas Senate on Wednesday voted 19-12 to pass a bill that gives attorneys a new defense in lawyer discipline cases.
The bill author said it would combat “cancel culture,” adding that he filed the measure out of concern over an American Bar Association model rule about anti-discrimination in the practice of law.
