Lawyers for CVS Pharmacy and a man who won a $43 million verdict against the drugstore chain after being shot during a 2012 parking lot robbery pleaded their cases before the Court of Appeals on Wednesday, with CVS arguing the verdict should be thrown out because the jury allocated no fault to the unknown shooter.

CVS’ lawyer, Holland & Knight partner Laurie Webb Daniel, also took issue with several rulings of the trial judge, including his refusal to grant a motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict for a new trial after the verdict came down.
