Policygenius Brings in Marketing Chief From EverQuote: Personnel Moves

Policygenius has hired Maya Gumennik to be the company’s head of marketing.

Policygenius is a New York-based web broker that recently raised $100 million in financing and set up a second headquarters in Durham, North Carolina. It recently hired a vice president of people, a chief financial officer and a general manager of content. It’s helping Brighthouse Financial with an accelerated underwriting project.

Gumennik previously was the senior vice president of performance marketing at EverQuote.

She has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in business from Harvard.

Earlier in her career, Gumennik worked for management and private equity consulting firms. She also spent eight years working for TripAdvisor.

In other personnel news:

Sun Life Financial Inc., Toronto, has hired Manjit Singh to be executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Singh previously was executive vice president of enterprise finance at Toronto-Dominion Bank.

Singh has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Waterloo and a master’s degree from the University of Western Ontario’s business school. He holds the Chartered Professional Accountants and Chartered Financial Analyst professional designations.

He’s president of Ascend Canada, a group for Pan-Asian business people in North America.

Standard Insurance Co., of Portland, Oregon, has hired Christopher Halpin to be a retirement plan consultant for Kansas, Missouri and southern Illinois.

He’ll work with advisors and third-party administrators in that region, according to The Standard.

Halpin previously was a regional retirement wholesaler at Paychex.

Halpin has a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University. He holds the Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist and Accredited Retirement Plan Consultant professional designations.

He started out in sales at companies like AllianceBernstein, ING Mutual Funds, Edward Jones, Eaton Vance, Lincoln Financial and Stifel.

Sammons Financial Group, of West Des Moines, Iowa, has promoted Marcy Baker to vice president of corporate actuarial, from associate vice president of corporate actuarial.

Centene Corp., of St. Louis, has announced four promotions.

The health insurer added president of U.S. health plans to Brent Layton’s list of titles. Layton continues to be a Centene executive vice president.

The company also has promoted:

  • Sara London to president, health care enterprises, and executive vice president, advanced technology, from manager of Magellan integration.
  • Shannon Bagley to executive president, chief administrative officer, from co-leader of the company’s human resources department.
  • H. Robert Sanders to executive vice president, global human resources, from senior vice president, human resources.
