What You Need to Know

  • XY Planning Network continues to grow and now serves nearly 1,400 fee-for-service advisors.
  • Stephanie Foster and Lisa Bukowitz each had executive roles at several tech firms before joining XYPN.
  • Thomas Kerney has been promoted from compliance consultant to senior director at subsidiary XY Investment Solutions.

XY Planning Network recently made two new executive hires, naming Stephanie Foster as its chief administrative officer, while Lisa Bukowitz was named chief marketing officer. Both are new roles at XYPN.

Meanwhile, Thomas Kerney was promoted from compliance consultant to senior director at XY Investment Solutions, a wholly owned XYPN subsidiary that provides investment solutions for XYPN’s advisor community.

The new executives “will play critical roles as XYPN continues to grow as the go-to network for independent financial advisors who are launching, running, and scaling fee-for-service financial planning firms that serve next-gen clients,” it said in announcing the new hires and promotion.

XYPN’s financial planning platform has continued to grow since it was created in 2014 and now serves almost 1,400 fee-for-service advisors.

Prior to joining XYPN, Foster was head of regional product management, Americas at fintech firm Finastra. She will “leverage her experience leading global cross-functional teams, implementing repeatable organizational processes, and driving innovative solutions to guide XYPN as the company scales its team over the next few years,” XYPN said.

Foster will “have the unique opportunity to oversee XYPN’s finances while leading daily operations and spearheading our data analytics through our next phase of growth,” she said in a statement.

Bukowitz previously was head of go-to-market at software company Zemax. Before that, she had global leadership roles with technology firms including Zillow, Vertafore and Infospace. She also launched one of the first online shopping sites for Eddie Bauer, XYPN said.

In her role as CMO, Bukowitz will “spearhead XYPN’s marketing and sales strategies, enhancing and expanding XYPN’s offerings and, ultimately, growing the Network by attracting and retaining a growing number of independent financial advisors,” it said.

Kerney joined XYPN in October 2020 as a compliance consultant. His 14 years of experience in the investment banking and asset management sector, combined with “a bevy of industry certifications made him a natural choice” for senior director of XYIS, which recently crossed the threshold for and became Securities and Exchange Commission-registered, XYPN said.

Prior to XYPN, Kerney was founder and CEO of investment management platform Early from 2018 to 2020 and served as president and chief compliance officer of broker-dealer Hanover Securities from 2014 to 2018, according to his LinkedIn profile.
