George Connolly Rises at Securian Individual Solutions: Personnel Moves

Securian Financial has promoted George Connolly to executive vice president, individual solutions.

The individual solutions division includes Securian Financial’s individual life, individual annuity and wealth management group businesses.

Connolly has been a senior vice president at the St. Paul, Minnesota-based company. He oversees the life insurer’s Securian Trust Company unit and the career distribution arm.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and a law degree from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the American College of Financial Services board and serves on the board’s executive committee.

In other personnel moves news:

Northwestern Mutual, Milwaukee, has hired Laura Deaner to be chief information security officer (CISO). She will lead the company’s Enterprise Information Risk & Cybersecurity team

Deaner previously was the CISO at S&P Global.

She also has worked in information technology at Northrop Grumman, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley and PR Newswire.

Deaner holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Old Dominion University. She serves on the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) board. She previously served as the co-chair of the Global Futures Council at the World Economic Forum.

Reinsurance Group of America Inc., Chesterfield, Missouri, has hired Ron Herrmann to be executive vice president, head of U.S. & Latin American markets.

Herrmann previously was head of individual life and employee benefits at Equitable.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Penn State University as well as a Certified Financial Planner professional designation.

He is a member of the American Council of Life Insurers’ CEO Steering Committee on Prudential Issues, its CEO Steering Committee on Taxation, and its Reinsurance Executive Council. He also serves on the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance board.

Before going to work for Equitable, Herrmann was a life sales and distribution executive with Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. and Prudential Financial Inc.

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, Falls Church, Virginia, has hired Maeghan Gale to be a policy director. She’s responsible for helping NAIFA shape model laws and model regulations.

Gale previously was director of strategic planning and community relations at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Gale has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Queens University of Charlotte and a master’s degree in marketing from Florida International University.

Before Gale went to work for MassMutual, she was a State Farm agency owner and a financial advisor with The Prudential Insurance Company of America.

Gale also has worked as a professional wakeboarder. She was World Champion in 1999 and 2000, the X-Games Gold Medalist  in 1999, the National Champion in 2000, and the Masters Champion in 2000.

Actuarial Risk Management Ltd., Austin, Texas, has hired Marc Altschull to be a senior consulting actuary.

Altschull previously was a senior consulting actuary at Merlinos & Associates Inc. For 11 years before that, he was an executive at Voya.

He has a bachelor’s degree in actuarial mathematics and economics from the University of Michigan. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Fellow of the Society of Actuaries professional designations.

He is the treasurer for CFA Society Atlanta, vice chair for the American Academy of Actuaries Life Valuation Committee, and treasurer for the SOA’s investment section.

Schechter, Birmingham, Michigan, has hired Gregg Michael to be managing director, institutional partnerships.

Michael previously was a national vice president at Symetra.

He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Villanova University.

Earlier in his career, he was a life brokerage manager at Aetna Life, a sales vice president at Lincoln Financial Distributors and a regional vice president at Principal Financial Group Inc.

Hub International Ltd., Chicago, has named  Joe DeNoyior national president of HUB Retirement and Private Wealth. The unit manages about $93 billion in assets.

DeNoyior came to Hub in September 2019, when Hub acquired Washington Financial Group. DeNoyior has been Washington Financial’s chief executive officer.

DeNoyior has a bachelor’s degree in finance from The George Washington University. He worked for Washington Financial from the time he left college till when Hub bought it.

DeNoyior is president-elect of the American Retirement Association and past president of the National Association of Plan Advisors.

SE2, Topeka, Kansas, has hired David Nicolai to be chief commercial officer.

Nicolai previously was vice president of sales at Equisoft. He led U.S. sales for insurance products and services.

Advisor360°, Weston, Massachusetts, has hired Chris Ollendike to be senior vice president of sales.

Advisor360° runs a platform for broker-dealers and registered investment advisors.

Chris Ollendike previously was sales director at InvestEdge. Earlier, he was a co-founder of FolioDynamix, an investment management and wealth management technology company.

He has a bachelor’s degree in management from Hartwick College.
