The House Judiciary Committee announced Friday that it rehired former impeachment counsels Barry Berke and Joshua Matz to help with the upcoming Senate trial for President Donald Trump.

Both Berke and Matz worked on the past impeachment proceedings against Trump: Berke, alongside Norm Eisen, joined the House Judiciary Committee in 2019 as a special counsel as lawmakers considered the possibility of impeachment. Matz was one of several outside attorneys hired by the committee as the Judiciary lawmakers prepared to take up the Ukraine-focused impeachment inquiry.
