Dan McMillan Named President of StanCorp: Personnel Moves

StanCorp Financial Group Inc. has promoted Dan McMillan to president and chief operating officer, from executive vice president.

The Standard is a Portland, Oregon-based subsidiary of Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company of Tokyo, and the parent of Standard Insurance Company.

J. Greg Ness will continue to be The Standard’s chief executive officer and chairman.

McMillan has a bachelor’s degree from Linfield College. He holds the Associate Life & Health Claims professional designation.

He began working for The Standard in 1989.

He serves on the Group Insurance Executive Council at the American Council of Life Insurers and the board of Lines for Life. He previously served on the board of the Council for Disability Awareness.

In other personnel moves news:

Lincoln Financial Group, Radnor, Pennsylvania, has hired Craig Beazer to be executive vice president and general counsel. He succeeds Leon Roday, who is retiring.

Previously Beazer was general counsel at KeyBank.

Beazer has a bachelor’s degree from Iona College and a law degree from New York University. He is a member of the Society for Corporate Governance.

Earlier in his career, Beazer worked for companies such as General Electric, GE Capital, Bank of America and BNY Mellon.

OneAmerica, Indianapolis, has hired Mark Scalercio to be senior vice president, head of distribution, for the company’s individual life and financial services line of business.

Scalercio previously was the national head of sales at RiverSource Life Insurance Company, the Ameriprise Financial Inc. insurance and annuities unit.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University.

Earlier in his career, he worked as an advisor and branch manager at AXA Equitable. He later founded and sold a distribution company, LifeSource.

Scalercio also has worked for Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. and for Sun Life of Canada.

Eagle Life Insurance Company, a subsidiary of American Equity Investment Life Insurance Company of West Des Moines, Iowa, has hired Gregory Alberti to be head of national accounts.

Alberti previously was a managing director and vice president of business development and fee-based distribution at Protective Life Insurance.

Alberti has a bachelor’s degree from Cabrini College and a master’s degree in business from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

Earlier in his career, he spent 11 years at AIG Financial Distributors, as head of strategic account management for the independent broker-dealer channel. He also has been of head of strategic relationship management and RIA distribution at Great-West.

Alegeus, Waltham, Massachusetts, has hired Leif O’Leary to be its chief executive officer.

Steve Auerbach, who has been the CEO of the health account administration company, will become the company’s executive chairman.

Alegeus also has hired Shay Gonen to be chief financial officer and Aditya Joshi (to be chief product and technology officer.

O’Leary previously was CEO of Intralinks, a company that helps financial services companies share documents.

O’Leary has a bachelor’s degree from Boston College.

Gonen previously worked for O’Leary at Intralinks. He has a bachelor’s degree from Technion and a master’s degree in business from Bar-Ilan University.

Joshi was executive vice president of products and technology at Threat Stack, a cloud security company. Joshi has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Bombay and a master’s degree in computer science from the University of Bombay.

Molina Healthcare Inc., Long Beach, California, has hired Brian Maddy to be plan president for Molina Healthcare of Oklahoma, to support he company’s participation in the Oklahoma Medicaid program

Maddy previously was chief strategy officer for OU Health. Before that, he was CEO for OU Physicians, the faculty practice for OU Health. He also was president of Academic Physicians Insurance Company, a Vermont captive insurance company.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Phillips University and has been chairman of Heartland Health, Oklahoma’s largest Medicaid managed care organization.

Earlier in his career, Maddy was chief of staff for the Oklahoma Senate. While serving in the state Senate, he helped create the state’s current Medicaid program.
