Mastercard Inc. has recruited Richard Verma, former U.S. ambassador to India and ex-senior national security adviser, to oversee the financial services giant’s public policy, regulatory matters and worldwide litigation teams.

Mastercard announced Verma’s appointment as executive vice president of global public policy and regulatory affairs on Tuesday. But his LinkedIn profile states that he started his new job in October and is based in Washington, D.C. He reports to Mastercard General Counsel Tim Murphy
