Pennsylvania Republicans and Pennsylvania Democrats, locked in a preelection battle over mail-in ballot deadlines, have turned to top former Trump and Obama administration lawyers for their next round in the U.S. Supreme Court.

In what may be one of the first election disputes heard by a newly confirmed Justice Amy Coney Barrett, Jones Day partner John Gore, former Trump-era principal deputy assistant attorney general in the U.S. Justice Department’s civil rights division, represents the Republican Party of Pennsylvania, or RPP, in its latest attempt to undo a recent Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling.
