A trial judge in Washington, D.C., on Friday pressed both Trump Justice Department lawyers and attorneys with Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer over a more than $200,000 settlement they reached in a case where Trump officials admitted to lying in court, questioning the “reasonableness” of the attorneys’ fees sought by the private firm.

Arnold & Porter and DOJ lawyers submitted the settlement to U.S. District Judge Richard Leon of the District of Columbia in August, in which the administration agreed to pay the firm $212,140 to cover “reasonable fees and costs in this matter” in exchange for the litigation’s dismissal.
