Moving up the ladder in an alternative legal service provider (ALSP) versus rising up the ranks in a law firm or corporate legal department are nearly polar opposites.

While most law firms and legal departments are only beginning to explore new solutions, ALSPs are rewarding adaptability, and embracing technology and risk. And unlike their counterparts,  lawyers in ALSPs are being told to think less like an attorney and more like a business. But though there are differences, some expect Big Law and corporate legal departments professionals to become more like their ALSP colleagues as the industry looks to operate more cost effectively.
