Former U.S. Supreme Court law clerks have a statistically significant advantage of winning the vote of their former justice than do other lawyers arguing at the high court, according to a new study.
Political scientists Ryan Black of Michigan State University and Ryan Owens of the University of Wisconsin-Madison arrived at that conclusion in their study “The Influence of Personalized Knowledge at the Supreme Court: How (Some) Former Law Clerks Have the Inside Track.”
