The family of a man who was killed while awaiting sentencing at the Metropolitan Correctional Center can sue the federal government for negligence, a federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled Friday.
The decision came as MCC, the imposing federal lockup in Lower Manhattan, faces renewed questions about security protocols following the apparent suicide of accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein in August.
