A Manhattan federal judge said Monday that he would rule later this week on wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein’s request to wait out trial on child sex-trafficking and conspiracy charges from his $77 million townhouse on New York’s Upper East Side.

U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman of the Southern District of New York said he would rule on Epstein’s bail motion in court Thursday morning. Epstein, meanwhile, would remain housed at a federal detention facility in Manhattan, where he has been held since his July 6 arrest at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey.
