American Media Inc. has entered into a nonprosecution agreement with federal prosecutors in Manhattan over its role in suppressing allegations of an extramarital affair against Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said Wednesday.

The news came as part of the U.S. Attorney Office’s announcement of Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, being sentenced to three years in federal prison on tax evasion and lying to Congress, as well as campaign finance violations connected to the AMI announcement.
