  1. Great article! I have heard the podcast interview with Rand Fishkin as well. There’s no doubt Rand is an outstanding and very creative thinker. But more importantly, he is even more transparent. His commitments to sustaining a great work culture and ensuring dignity for women employees have set benchmarks for other employers to match. This is exactly what makes him so popular in the digital marketing world.

  2. Hi Sonia

I really enjoyed this article. A few months ago I had the honor of featuring Rand as an expert guest on my Productive Insights podcast.

It was an awesome discussion around content marketing.

Although the interview was about content marketing, I opened the conversation by asking Rand to talk about kindness as a competitive advantage. I absolutely loved his response!

Sonia I can’t wait to have you as an expert guest on my show. We talked about you being a guest on the show sometime last year but “life happened”!

I hope we can do it sometime soon πŸ™‚

    Best

  3. As a professional SEO, I tend to use Rand’s Moz tools every day. It is almost weird to think that they were close to not existing. It is great to hear their story and I am thankful that they stuck it out and put out a great product.

  5. There is a lot to learn from Rand’s story. Transparency is the key to success. I think this is the take away from this story. I have been following Rand’s blog since I started my blogging career back in 2010. MOZ is the best place to learn SEO and the community is pretty helpful. Thanks for publishing his story.

  6. Thanks for the inspirational read, Sonia! Trying something like starting your own company is quite scary and nerve wracking. I constantly write down different ideas I have to become self sufficient, but am timid about choosing a path to take my first steps down. Posts like are encouraging. Thanks again Sonia!

  7. Great article! I use the Moz open site explorer tool nearly every single day. While I currently don’t pay for their full service, I do appreciate the fact that they keep some things free to the public.
