Recruiter InMail Policy

Last updated: 3 months ago

InMail messages allow recruiters to converse with potential candidates about career opportunities.

At LinkedIn, the content you share through InMail should add to the LinkedIn community in a constructive manner. Additional information on what that means is laid out below. You should also review our LinkedIn Professional Community Policies. The LinkedIn Recruiter InMail Policy, in accordance with the LinkedIn Professional Community Policies, ensure that communication through Recruiter is a positive experience for everyone.

We don’t tolerate inappropriate behavior or activities such as spam, harassment, scams, and misinformation. We also seek to ensure members receive high quality and appropriate InMail and content. The following policies and procedures as a part of the LinkedIn Recruiter InMail Policy ensure InMail communication through Recruiter is a positive experience for everyone.

Please follow these rules of conduct when sending InMail messages:

  • Don't distribute unwanted or untargeted mass InMail messages.
  • Don't use InMail for marketing campaigns.
  • Don't use InMail as event invitations.
  • All messages must follow the LinkedIn Professional Community Policies.

Violating our policies can result in action against your account’s ability to send InMails or may lead to other restrictions to your Recruiter account. These policies apply to all members with Recruiter and Recruiter Lite. Violations of this policy may result in restrictions on your ability to send InMails.

Important to know

InMail messages undergo checks by LinkedIn’s filtering system and your InMail message can be flagged as inappropriate if it violates one or more of the above rules of conduct. If multiple InMails have been flagged, you’ll receive a notification and your ability to send new InMail messages will be disabled until the following day. Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is used for calculating a day. You can learn more about how we enforce violations of our LinkedIn Recruiter InMail Policy here.
