In just a couple months Breeze Airways will complete the installation of inflight internet on its A220 fleet. The carrier will also make the service free for more travelers as part of its efforts to boost passenger experience.
In a media briefing this week CEO David Neeleman shared that the service will be complimentary on board for all passengers booked in the company’s Nicest or Nicer fare classes, starting today. For travelers booked in the “Nice” fare class the service remains $8, covering all travelers (or multiple devices) on a PNR.
Making the service free for passengers paying for the Nicest fare was pretty much a certainty last May during an on-board conversation with Breeze President Tom Doxey on one of the first fitted planes. At that time Doxey suggested Nicer fares might also get free WiFi on board. That is now very real.
The company will keep the free messaging option as well. That service works for passengers immediately upon association with the access point; no login is required.
Wi-Fi service on Breeze’s A220 fleet is provided by Viasat. Last May the company aimed to complete installation of the service on its A220 fleet by the end of 2023. That timeline shifted to Q2 2024, but Neeleman is confident Breeze will deliver on the updated timeline.
