“Hamburg is a well-known centre of aviation and Airbus is one of its most important brands. The service centre's various offers will forge even closer ties between Airbus and residents of Finkenwerder. This underlines the importance of aviation for Hamburg," said Michael Westhagemann, Senator for Economics. The planned centre is "commitment to the location and an important sign in difficult times", according to Andreas Dressel, Senator for Finance. The facilities including a supermarket, gym and nursery school will boost the working and living environment in Finkenwerder. The visitor centre is likely to double the number of visitors to Airbus production facilities and could become a tourist magnet south of the Elbe in future, Dressel noted.

Visitor centre and facilities for Airbus employees and residents expected to open in 2024
A new Airbus service centre is to be built in Hamburg-Finkenwerder by 2024, a press release said Tuesday (April 6, 2021). A notarisation of the sale of the 1.4 hectare (3.45 acres) site to AirH Hamburg GmbH has been completed. The plans foresee a new visitor centre, a roof-top terrace and other facilities for employees and residents. The service centre is expected to create around 350 jobs.
