Photos have emerged revealing the next round of Delta’s 737-800 interior upgrades is underway. Approximately 40 aircraft are expected to see the refresh over the next two years, with new seats and updated in-flight entertainment coming on board.
We are committed to maintaining an elevated and premium customer experience across all touchpoints of the travel journey – this includes making improvements to our aircraft interiors as part of ongoing, planned retrofits.
– Delta spokesperson
In the first class cabin images show Delta chose to install a version of its newer seat (launched on the A321neo), with the privacy wings on the headrest. The inflight entertainment screen is much larger than the prior iteration.
Economy class gets a full refresh as well, with quilted seat cover stitching similar to the A321neo. The 11″ IFE screens in the back are also significantly better than the prior generation. Comments suggest they’ll include Bluetooth pairing nose-to-tail.
The first aircraft to receive the new configuration is N3744F. It ferryed from Kansas City to Chicago on Saturday, and is expected to enter revenue service on a flight to Detroit later in the day.
An STC for the retrofits, including “Cabin Interior Reconfiguration, and Modifications to existing monuments and Seats in Boeing 737-800 series aircraft” was issued on 9 January 2024, enabling the plane to return to service.
