The word "Liberty" can be seen inscribed along the cornet. After Longacre's passing, he was succeeded by Christian Gobrecht.

American Eagle (reverse) - The reverse depicts an American Eagle behind a shield as it holds an olive branch in its right talon and arrows in its left.
