Trump in Minnesota for tax roundtable

President Trump took part in a roundtable discussion about taxes Monday in Minnesota.

Minnesota Farm Bureau president Kevin Paap attended the event in Burnsville and says Trump briefly mentioned agriculture while focusing on the Tax Reform and Jobs Act.

Paap is pleased the legislation includes stepped up basis, business and property tax deductions, and changes to the estate tax.

“But quite frankly, our Farm Bureau members aren’t concerned about taxes as much as they’re concerned about trying to break even or even get into black ink.”

He tells Brownfield Farm Bureau is also concerned about trade, which came up during the roundtable.

“We did talk about China and continuing to work in that direction, (as well as) the European Union and making sure agriculture is part of that.”

But, Paap says he was disappointed President Trump didn’t spend much time talking about Canada and Mexico.
