Survey: Iowa farmland values continue gradual decline

Average farmland values in Iowa fell one percent over the past six months, according to the latest survey by the Iowa Chapter of the Realtors Land Institute.

The changes varied from a three percent increase in southeast Iowa to a nearly three percent decrease in north central Iowa.

According to the realtors group, major factors supporting farmland prices include a limited amount of land on the market, MFP payments, and higher than expected crop yields in some locations. Negative factors include trade uncertainty, decreasing levels of working capital, and slightly higher interest rates.

Average farmland prices in the state are nearly three percent lower than this time last year, according to the survey.
