Minnesota Ag Water Quality program nears 450k acres

Nearly 450,000 acres of Minnesota farmland is Ag Water Quality Certified.

Ag Commissioner Dave Frederickson says the certification program has been a huge success.

“I bump into people all the time who say the process wasn’t hard (and they) worked through it without any problem.  (they) changed a few of their practices (and) established best management practices on their operations and feel really good about it.”

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture says the Ag Water Quality Certification program boasts 680 producers adding more than 1,300 new conservation practices.  Governor Dayton thanked those farmers for voluntarily committing to improve the quality of water that all Minnesotans drink.
