Joyce (Farmer) Harris, 79, of Waco, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in Waco, Texas.

Visitation: Monday, May 6, 2024 from 5 – 8pm, Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel

Celebration of Joyce’s life: Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11am, New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 1113 Payne Street in Waco, with Rev. Ara Rauls, Sr., Pastor/Eulogist, and Rev. Allen Dixon, Sr. officiating. A reception will follow at the church.

Joyce was born March 1, 1945 in Waco, Texas. She attended Waco public schools and graduated from A.J. Moore High School. She married Billy Harris who preceded her in death in 2007. She was a faithful member of New Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church and was the Women’s Mission President at the church prior to joining New Mount Olive. Her greatest pleasure in life was serving God, singing in the choir, and raising her grand kids, when she was not working as a nurse’s aide for Providence Healthcare; which she did for over 20 years.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Elizabeth Farmer; Husband, Billy Harris; brother, James Farmer; sisters, Maggie Nevis, Shirley Lee, Jean Farmer, and Alice Farmer.
Joyce is survived by her children; Billy Harris Jr. (Aneietra), Russell Harris, Donald Harris (Kim), Andrea Alexander, Reginald Harris (Genice), Darrell Harris (Christel); brothers, Michael Farmer (Arleta), and Freddie Farmer; and sister, Janet Robinson. She will be deeply missed by her 28 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, relatives and many friends.
