After reading Bedtime for Batman I asked for a companion book for little girls who want to be superheroes and here it is. It is time for school and this little girl is ready to be a superhero. I love that dad takes her in the morning and picks her up at night. Throughout the day she uses her superpowers to make it a positive one. Her powers included being prepared, kind, brave, honest and strong. She demonstrates these skills while participating in normal school activities. The story shows Wonder Woman fighting against monsters with a sentence beginning on her page and ending on the page with the little girl solving a problem of working on a situation. The illustrations are large, colourful and detailed. The children are all quite cute, and portray various ethnicities. A really cute book that could become a little girl's favourite. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

I bought this book for a family in need for their 4 year old girl for a Christmas present. I found it in the book store and decided to pick it up since Wonder Woman and superheroes are cool right now. So I thought the little girl might enjoy it for years to come. When I got home I read the book and really enjoyed it. I hope it is inspiring to the little girl. I like how a little girl dressed as wonder woman has one story going and the real Wonder Woman also has a story going at the same time. Both stories relate to each other. The illustrations are cool and seem like you are reading a comic book. All in all a good book.

What a super story! We loved it!

This review was originally shared on Lazy Day Literature

This is a fun and empowering picture book full of bright and colorful illustrations and a wonderful message to all aspiring little heroes! If you're a fan of DC Comics or Wonder Woman, this is a must for your children's shelves. It shows that being a hero is not just for those who fight monsters and save the day. Heroes face the world head on and brave their own fears, spread kindness, and help others.

The physical copy of this book is gorgeous and has awesome end pages. I love the back and forth between the classic Wonder Woman and the adorable little girl dressed up like her. I love how big, bold, and colorful each and every page is. It made for an immersing and entertaining read.

My toddler loved this book. She enjoys superheroes so when I first showed her this book and asked her what she thought about it, she said, "She's a superhero! She saves the day!" She was fascinated that a little girl braving her way through a jungle gym and helping others to get along could be a superhero, too.

Geared toward lower grades it allows younger kids to use their imaginations to jump into the adventure with their favorite superhero. Written by a children’s book author and illustrated by comic book artists, the concept is brilliant. The dual storytelling of a kid facing her day and the comic panels of superhero defending justice is a wonderful way to relate to kids and their imaginations. The 'Be A Star' checklist is also a great reinforcement for the subtle life lessons contained in the story. Available in both board books and picture books, this series is perfect for kids 3-8.

In 'Be A Star Wonder Woman', our young lady is off to school and much like her hero Wonder Woman, she will face many challenges. She will keep the peace and face her greatest fears, but the with the help of friends she can find her courage and win the day.

Diverse, inclusive, adorable! Yes!!

Be a Star, Wonder Woman shares a phenomenal message about daily acts of kindness, bravery, honesty, and strength that can encourage great discussion with the littles in our lives. Good reminders for us grownups, too!

Spotted this one as I was walking out of Barnes & Noble and had to give it a quick read. Not too far away, there were also "Bedtime for Batman" and "Good Morning, Superman". I'm sure these are all riding the marketing wave of movie promotion, but they're still darling stories.

I am quite sure that this would have been my favorite book if it had existed when I was a kid. So glad Wonder Woman is going to be enjoyed by kids today as much as I enjoyed her. The art is adorable, and the message is empowering.

I'm a bigger fan of the illustrations than I am of the picture book's message. You can be an everyday hero by being mindful, brave and kind. Just like Wonder Woman. It's beautifully done and it's cute. It's nice that it includes a diverse set of background characters. Unfortunately, I don't think it's a book that will stand the test of time. It's more of a ride-the-wave-while-it-lasts type of children's book. (Maybe I'm just tired of and bitter about Wonder Woman-themed books being shoved down my throat, who knows?)

I LOVED this book. The pictures were awesome and the story was really cute. This would be great to do for a storytime and then you can do a super hero craft. This book had good points on conquering your fears and helping others, doing things that a hero would do. This could also be a great teaching moment.

Be A Star, Wonder Woman! Is a children's picture book written by Michael Dahl and illustrated by Omar Lozano, which focus on a young girl that faces the ultimate challenge – school and co-stars the Amazon Princess and her companions. This is the fourth book in the DC Superhero Bedtime.

Dahl's text is simplistic and straightforward. It centers on a little girl's super heroic day at school as she traverses the joys and tribulations of the day. Lozano's illustrations are simply wonderful and depicts the text rather well – it gives a cartoonish vibe, which is apropos to the book.

The premise of the book is also rather straightforward. It's about a little girl's day at school. We follow her along the day as she demonstrates her greatest superpower (sharing), overcomes her worst fears (the playground), and conquers her archenemy (a spelling test). With courage, kindness, and other heroic traits – the little girl turns her difficult school day into an amazing adventure.

All in all, Be a Star, Wonder Woman! Is a wonderful children's book that shows that a terrible or ordinary day could be adventurous through the right lens.

I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in return for my honest review.

In theory, this is an awesome book. Girl power! Being kind to those around you! Asking for help when you need it! But I just didn't feel this book. The concept is that a little girl is being dropped off at daycare by her father (yes!) and throughout she sort of imagines herself as her own hero, Wonder Woman. Each challenge that comes her way has a counterpart with the traditional looking Wonder Woman. I think I might have enjoyed the book more if they had left out grown-up Wonder Woman and just left it at the little girl.

When I requested this book, it was shortly before I went to see the Wonder Woman movie. I wanted to read this book because the art was very attractive for a picture book and I've been looking for things to read to my son. I didn't realize at the time that this was part of a series from an author I'd previously reviewed: Michael Dahl, author of Bedtime for Batman, which was a 4 star read for me.

What I like about Dahl's previous Batman book that carries over to his Wonder Woman book is the parallel story between Wonder Woman and the little girl in the story. While Wonder Woman is battling a super adversary, the main character is battling her own "adversaries": the first day of school, sharing, being brave, meeting new people, etc.

I also like the diversity of the children in the schoolroom. There were several ethnicities represented.

I'm not quite sure who all the DC characters were except for the popular ones (Batgirl, Super Girl), which wasn't a huge issue, but a small insert at the back with what their names are would've been appreciated as I don't think I'll be the only one whose child asks "who is that?" and possibly not be able to come up with an answer.

Now, while I liked the parallel stories, I also felt that the text of the book felt a wee bit disjointed between the two. I don't think that a child (the intended audience) will make as many of the connections between Wonder Woman's actions and the little girl's without some explanation from whoever is reading to them. It may well make for a good reading time experience, but for a young one to read on their own, I'm not sure if they'll like the story so much as the bright and brilliantly stylized art.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Opening Moves Narrative: When I would read this aloud to my class I would want to begin by showing the cover and inviting students to make "predictions based on the title." As this discussion progressed, I'm sure a bunch of students would make the connection to the recent movie or Marvel character. I would then ask them if the cover art makes them predict differently. Next I would show the first pages in order to "draw attention to the illustrator's craft" and have the class turn to a neighbor and discuss what they think the illustrator is doing to help the clarity of the story. I want them to notice how as the main character in the story is doing every day things, the illustrator shows how they are similar to the works of Wonder Woman.

Opening Moves: Prompt predictions based on title; Draw attention to the author's or illustrator's craft.

Rationale: I chose this story as a part of my text set because the main character is a female and the events are regular everyday tasks, but her positive self image helps her realize the power of being strong, confident, and kind. This connects to the other books because they are either about the works of strong women or display a strong female main character.

Going to school each day is an adventure. It is the place where new challenges are faced, fears are overcome, and bravery prevails as we learn and grow. Some days are tough and we might just feel like giving up but "A hero must be strong. She must never give up. Never quit." Throughout the course of one school day, a young girl helps friends settle a dispute, wrestles with her fear of heights, and takes on the very difficult task of writing about her hero, Wonder Woman.

I am a fan of superhero books for kids in any format. In my K-5 library, I have picture books, graphic novels, chapter books and those cool hybrids that have an even mix of pictures and text. Be a Star, Wonder Woman! was fun to read and I really enjoyed the way the young girl's story and Wonder Woman's intertwined. While their challenges weren't exactly the same, they both had to be strong and courageous in order to succeed.

Omar Lozano's illustrations paired with Michael's Dahl's text make for an engaging read. Lozano's use of vivid colors and the infusion of comic book panels are exciting. It is a welcome addition to the DC Super Heroes collection.

A little girl goes off to school in her Wonder Woman costume. She is ready for anything the day may throw at her. She resolves a fight between two classmates. She asks for help when she needs it. Throughout the book there are scenes of Wonder Woman saving the day. At the end it summarizes all of the qualities to be a hero. 1. Be prepared. 2.Be kind. 3. Be brave. 4. Be strong. 5. Be heroic. 6. Be Honest.
I really enjoyed this book. It is a good way to introduce young children to the world of comics and super heroes. I liked the way the Wonder Woman and little girl scenes were merged together seamlessly. There were also children depicted from diverse ethnic backgrounds, which is always good. This book will inspire little girls to accomplish their goals. It will install in them that they can achieve their dreams at a young age. Girl Power!

"Be a Star, Wonder Woman!" combines the strength and beauty of Wonder Woman into the everyday life of a young girl. It shows pictures side by side of Wonder woman fighting off bad guys, and a young girl doing difficult things, like climbing up the rope ladder at school. I love how this book teaches "super hero" values (for girls, which is really cool) by showing this young girl doing normal school-related things. When I was in elementary school, my school had different pillars that represented values the school wanted us to uphold. This book has a checklist at the end of some of these qualities, and I think it would be good for students to have a visual of the lessons they're learning while they read. I really like how this book teaches things like bravery and honesty, but in ways that are easily recognizable for students, and easily applicable for teachers in a classroom. I think this would be great for talking to students about values and why certain qualities are important to have and uphold.

Michael Dahl comes to us with his third entry in superhero picture books. First, we had bedtime with Batman, then getting ready in the morning with Superman, and now we have going to school with Wonder Woman. This new book is not up to par with the first two. First, the rhythm and tone of "Good Night Moon" has been abandoned; not a good idea as that in itself is always a winning combination. So this just reads like a regular simple picture book. Like the others, it compares the child's school day to Wonder Woman's superhero day. But rather than comparing them as being similar, "Be a Star" is heavily didactic telling the child how to behave in a hero or star manner. The art, however, is very compelling as in the other books and the highlight of this one. Wonder Woman is drawn in a tall, slim, angular fashion which compliments the short, childish, roundness of the little girl. Good for Wonder Woman fans but not for those looking for a continuation of the first two books' quality.

'Be A Star, Wonder Woman!' by Michael Dahl with illustrations by Omar Lozano follows a young girl through her day and also shows what Wonder Woman is up to. It's the third book in this DC Superheroes series, and it's every bit as charming as the books featuring Batman and Superman.

A young girl starts her day by posing heroically, just like Wonder Woman. At preschool, she sees some kids fighting over toys and proposes a peaceful solution. She faces her nemesis, a rope up to a treehouse, out on the playground, and faces it with courage.

These are fun picture books with superheroes and the kids that want to act like them. The illustrations are fun as well.

I love this book! I bought it for my little granddaughter because I believe that every little girl is capable of being her own a superhero. Be A Star, Wonder Women conveys this same message.

Our little superhero is starting her first day of school. Her day is filled with many problems and decisions. With Wonder Woman as her example, she faces each challenge in an honest, brave and kind manor. She is truly a little Superhero!

Thank you Michael Dahl and Omar Lozano for this inspiring and beautifully illustrated children’s book. I’m looking forward to reading it to my little superhero. . . whoops, I mean granddaughter!! I’m happy to give you five stars!!

A girl gets ready to go to school and follows Wonder Woman’s characteristics and ideals by restoring peace when her classmates are fighting over toys, brave when she needs to tackle recess, honest when she needs help from her friends, and of course she must never give up.

This is a wonderful story that shows what it means to be a hero and a friend and how to overcome challenges along the way. This is a great empowering book for young girls that they will love since it shows how they can be a hero too.

This book is about a little girl learning to overcome challenges and be kind and brave. The book compares the little girl to Wonder Woman. She helps others (learn to share) and overcomes enemies (the playground). She pushes herself to be a better student.

I really liked this book. I love that the author compared the little girl to a superhero. I also really liked that the girl pushed herself to do the best she could, despite her fear. I also appreciated the fact that it was a girl compared to a superhero.

This book would be great to use in a kindergarten classroom. I would use this to encourage students and teach them to help others and be kind.

Loved it! This is such an adorable, yet empowering book. It equates everyday school-time tasks (mediating friendship fights, facing fears, accomplishing difficult assignments) with being a hero.

The pictures are amazing, alternating between a little girl's day at school and Wonder Woman's battle with Circe. Beautiful illustrations.

There is also a "Be a STAR Checklist" at the end of the book that includes "Be Kind", "Be Brave", and "Be Honest" to teach and inspire kids how to be a star.

Fantastic book for superhero fans.
