Overcoming market barriers with Brazil

U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai told the Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday the Biden administration is working with Brazil to overcome market access barriers for U.S. ethanol, including the 18% import tariff.

“Our objective is to make sure ethanol can once again compete on a level playing field with domestically produced ethanol in Brazil.”

Tai said her latest engagement with Brazil happened more than one month ago and at the time, the Brazilians indicated at all levels their desire to find a way to accommodate.
