Minnesota House Ag Committee puts finishing touches on omnibus bill

The chair of the Minnesota House Agriculture Finance and Policy Committee says they are finalizing an omnibus bill that includes funding for the Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation Program.

Democrat Samantha Vang tells Brownfield the program supports biofuels, dairy, value-added agriculture, and can be used to address emerging issues.

“That we’re seeing this year, especially around like avian influenza. So AGRI is a big thing. Also added more additional dollars to some soil health financial assistance grants, which is also widely popular and widely used.”

Vang says motions to her bill will be taken Thursday and she’s hopeful it will quickly advance to the Ways and Means Committee.
