White House biofuels meeting taking place today

Another White House meeting to discuss the Renewable Fuel Standard is taking place today.

Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst will be part of the meeting with President Trump, as will EPA administrator Scott Pruitt and Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue.  Grassley says he will once again express his grave concerns about the RFS hardship waivers given to oil refiners, which he says are causing “demand destruction” for ethanol.

“The bottom line is Administrator Pruitt is falling well short of President Trump’s 15-billion gallon commitment,” Grassley says. “That’s a disservice to the President and it’s a disservice to the country.”

Grassley says he hopes Pruitt gets the message during today’s meeting, “that he (Pruitt) works for Trump and Trump was elected President—not Pruitt”.

Grassley says he will also press Trump to follow through on his commitment to permit year-round sales of E15.

Senators Ted Cruz of Texas of Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania are also involved in today’s meeting.
