Soybean, corn export inspections down on week, up on year

The USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections as of the week ending July 12th remain close to projections for the current marketing year. The 2018/19 marketing year for wheat got underway June 1st, while 2017/18 runs through the end of August for beans, corn, and sorghum.

Wheat came out at 469,523 tons, up 201,302 from the week ending July 5th, but down 125,182 from the week ending July 13th, 2017. About a month and a half into the 2018/19 marketing year, wheat inspections are 2,220,553 tons, compared to 3,938,258 early in 2017/18.

Corn was reported at 1,217,233 tons, 249,989 lower than the previous week, but 94,381 higher than this time last year. With just over a month and a half remaining in 2017/18, corn inspections are 48,445,001 tons, compared to 50,846,879 late in 2016/17.

Soybeans were pegged at 635,429 tons, 32,585 less than the week before, but 335,790 more than a year ago. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 50,978,252 tons, compared to 53,316,326 last year.

Sorghum totaled 552 tons, a drop of 13,731 on the week and 60,766 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 4,785,928 tons, compared to 5,198,304 in 2016/17.
