Reports: No deal, but they’re still talking

No deal was announced, but it appears they’re still talking.

That’s how various media outlets described today’s talks between U.S. and Chinese trade officials. Those discussions wrapped up around midday today.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin described the discussions as “constructive”. Chinese Vice Premier Liu He told reporters the talks went “fairly well.”

Bloomberg reports the U.S. gave China another ultimatum—that if an agreement is not reached in the next three to four weeks, the U.S. would place additional tariffs on 325 billion dollars of Chinese imports not currently covered by duties.
