Ohio Farm Bureau celebrates centennial

Farmers in Ohio came together a century ago to form an organization to address agricultural issues in the state.

Frank Burkett says he’s honored to be serving as president of Ohio Farm Bureau as the organization celebrates its 100th anniversary.

“It speaks huge volumes that farmers came together 100 years ago with the idea of joining together to address farmer’s needs and concerns and that tradition has continued throughout the course of 100 years through all levels of the organization,” he says.

He tells Brownfield members are not only looking back to celebrate Ohio Farm Bureau’s history, but they are also looking ahead.

“I think members will continue to join together with farmers to accomplish great things over the next 100 years,” he says. “As I look at where we are today, at this annual meeting, this is where the grassroots of the organization has the opportunity to shape the policy that guides us for the next 12 months.”

The centennial celebration will continue in the New Year.
