Nebraska crops stayed mostly dry last week

It was another mostly warm and dry week for Nebraska’s crops. There were five days suitable for fieldwork. Fourteen percent of the cropland is either short or very short on moisture.

Ninety-five percent of the state’s corn is silking with 41% in the dough stage and 3% dented. Overall, 60% of the corn is in good condition, with 20% fair and 15% excellent.

Soybeans are doing a little better with 11% in excellent condition, 62% good, and 22% fair. Sixty-six percent of the soybeans are setting pods.

Ninety percent of winter wheat and 89% of oats have been harvested. Sorghum is doing well, but most dry edible beans are in fair to good condition.
