MO Farm Bureau health plan bill passes House

Missouri Farm Bureau is getting closer to offering a health plan option to its members.

President Garrett Hawkins says the Missouri House approved a bill, sponsored by Representative Kurtis Gregory, to make that happen and a similar bill will be considered in the Senate.

“We’ll be asking the leader of the Senate and bill sponsor Senator Sandy Crawford what help they need to get the conversation jumpstarted within their chamber.”

The state legislature wraps up in mid-May and Hawkins says there’s still plenty of time left to get this passed.

“Given how difficult the session has been so far, we feel good about where our position is, particularly on this legislation.”

States must have either statutory authority or a waiver from existing insurance law before a Farm Bureau can offer health care coverage.

This is the second year Missouri Farm Bureau has asked the state legislature to provide support.
