Machinery?  Some are looking and others are buying

An agricultural equipment dealer says when it comes to new and used farm equipment, some farmers are looking and others are buying this spring.  Joe Newman is with Wisconsin-based Ziegler Equipment. He says, “They’re looking for deals and right now, there’s some deals to be had. Manufacturers have, from what I see, a pretty solid supply of iron so there’s some deals to be had out there.”

Newman tells Brownfield there are some farmers buying equipment they need for the upcoming planting season. “Mainly due to the time of year, it’s application equipment, sprayers, fertilizer spreaders, that type of thing. Combines are kind of slowing down a little bit. Tractors are kind of holding steady for the most part.”

Newman says several manufacturers are offering very favorable interest rates for financing new equipment, which is helping to move products.  He says it’s going to be interesting to see what the market does during the next 18 months or so, and what interest rates and commodity prices do to the equipment market.
