Illinois planting intentions follow national estimates

The USDA’s 2019 Planting Intentions report estimated Illinois farmers will plant more corn and less soybean acres this year, which is in line with overall US estimates.

USDA predicts corn will be up 2% at 11.2 million acres and soybeans will be down 3% at 10.5 million acres in the state.

Hay acres for harvest in Illinois this year are forecasted at 500 thousand, up 6% from a year ago.

The quarterly grain stocks report shows Illinois has the highest corn and soybean supplies in the US.

USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition reports resume Monday.
