Farm Bureau honors 114 farm families at Fair

Farm families from all of Missouri counties are being honored today by Missouri Farm Bureau at the Missouri State Fair.

One of those is the Wright family, from southeast Missouri’s Carter County, “We have 120 acres and we raise beef cattle. We have polled Hereford cows and cross theme with a registered Angus bull,” This is Dale Wright’s second time at the state fair. In 1996, his father was nominated as a farm family. He also runs an equipment repair business.

This is his wife Cheryl’s first time at the fair and tells Brownfield, “It’s a major honor of being nominated as a farm family – it’s just, WOW. And then just being able to see all this stuff is so cool!”

And their daughter Leanne is excited for her first time at the fair, “I’m going to go on that bull thing over there!”

The farm families are being treated all day with special activities, capped off with a dinner under a tent at the fair grounds. Missouri Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst assured everyone there would be lots of tea and water to keep everyone hydrated. Hurst says he’s proud of all the farm families for the work that they do.
