Corn export inspections off to a strong start

The USDA reports corn export inspections for the week ending September 13th indicate a bullish beginning to the 2018/19 marketing year.

Wheat came out at 406,004 tons, down 24,711 from the week ending September 6th and 62,700 lower than the week ending September 14th, 2017. Just over a quarter into the 2018/19 marketing year, wheat inspections are 6,100,416 tons, compared to 8,727,609 in 2017/18.

Corn was reported at 1,030,267 tons, up 246,772 from the previous week and 342,271 higher than this time last year. Early this marketing year, corn inspections are 1,708,788 tons, compared to 1,365,935 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 784,752 tons, 141,580 less than the week before and 147,876 below a year ago. For the marketing year to date, soybean inspections are 1,618,397 tons, compared to 2,039,729 last year.

Sorghum totaled 1,326 tons, a decrease of 448 tons on the week and a drop of 66,705 on the year. 2018/19 sorghum inspections are 2,836 tons, compared to 118,907 in 2017/18.
