Session Recording continues to bring new features and capabilities to both on-prem and cloud. We know that organizations are faced with managing constantly growing session recording files that take up large amounts of storage. Intelligently storing and deleting files as needed is just part of what makes Citrix Session Recording great.

With the latest release of our Citrix Session Recording service preview, you can simplify the process and make your work easier with the Support Archive/Delete policy feature. We have also made it possible for IT admins, with both Citrix DaaS and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 2209, to restrict recording file access to certain groups to support more use cases where granular access control is needed.

Let’s dive into these features and learn how they can help you manage recording files.

Restrict File Access to Select Groups

Previously, we used authorized roles and recording review policies to grant users and groups the appropriate review permissions for recorded files. With these, permissions granularity was based on users/groups; published applications or desktops; and delivery groups or machines. In some use cases, permission granularity was required at the individual resource-level, like in a forensics scenario, where some files are considered an important reference and can only be reviewed by certain people.

To better serve these scenarios, we introduced the new “PrivilegedPlayer” authorized role. If individual recording files need access restriction, they can be marked as “Place access restrictions” so only users authorized as “PrivilegedPlayer” can access and review those recording files. The “PrivilegedPlayer” user can remove access restriction to restore permissions for the recording files to the default settings.

This feature is also available in the cloud-based Session Recording service, as shown in the screenshots below.

Simplified Recording Archive/Delete Asset Management Workflow

In an earlier blog post, we covered how Session Recording service can help you manage your recording assets easier, compared to the on-premises version, through Archive/Delete actions. The push-button solution simplifies the administrative task of managing recorded sessions.

But what if you do it every day or every week?

We’ve simplified the recording asset management workflow, enabling you to define a schedule for archive and delete tasks so they can be executed automatically. Session Recording service can help you spend less time on low-value administrative work, so you stay productive, and you can save storage costs because you are archiving and deleting files in a timely manner.
