I remember getting my hands on my first iPhone in 2013. It hooked me with its modern design, powerful performance, and intuitive features, and I’ve been an Apple loyalist ever since. If you’re anything like me (and many other Apple users), you’re eager to upgrade to new iOS versions as soon as they’re available so you can be the first to experience the latest innovations and enhancements.

Here at Citrix, we’re excited about the value we can bring to Enterprises with the latest releases of Apple’s mobile operating system. We’ve been busy working to ensure Citrix Workspace app is fully compatible with the latest iOS releases.

Based on internal analytics data in the previous launch of iOS 15, we found that 10 percent of Citrix Workspace users on iOS devices upgraded to iOS 15 within 10 days of its release in September 2021. By October 2021, that number grew to 40 percent. We’re expecting a similar trend with the next iOS release.

To support our early adopters, we are thrilled to announce support for iOS 16 on Citrix Workspace app for iOS version 22.9.0 and greater! This ensures that Citrix Workspace app users get hassle-free and seamless access to Citrix Workspace with their Apple devices on iOS 16.

New Feature Support

iOS 16 brings a lot of great new enhancements that, when combined with Citrix Workspace app, provide enterprise-class features with consumer-grade simplicity and engagement. Let’s take a quick look at how Citrix Workspace app supports some of the new iOS 16 features.

App Intent API

One of the most exciting features Apple has delivered is App Intent API. This allows app vendors to programmatically create Siri shortcuts without the manual intervention of a user to perform specific actions within the app.

In an upcoming release, Citrix Workspace app will include support for App Intent API so users can launch virtual apps or desktops simply by using just a couple of Siri commands. For example:

  • “Hey, Siri. Launch Application/Desktop in Citrix Workspace”
  • Say the name of the targeted app/desktop to launch when prompted by Siri
A user requesting an app or desktop through Siri.

Advanced Multitasking and Simplified Viewing Capabilities with iPad OS

Apple is also making huge strides in providing enterprise-ready features specifically for iPad devices with its new release. In combination with Citrix, our joint customers have enjoyed the benefit of enhanced productivity with enterprise-class mobility.

iPad OS 16, combined with the processing power of the M1 chip on iPad Pro and iPad Air devices, introduces a lot of exciting new features, two of which stand out for enterprise organizations:

  • Multitasking with Stage Manager
  • Extending iPad display to an external monitor

Visit our recent blog for more details on how these new features available with iPadOS 16 can solve various enterprise use cases for our customers and help users stay productive.
