Citrix is proud to be recognized as a leader and a fast mover in the latest GigaOm Radar report for application and API protection. The application security report highlights Citrix as a comprehensive application and API security platform that balances innovation with maturity and stability. Citrix is the only vendor that scored “exceptional” in every category that matters most to customers looking for a web app and API protection (WAAP) solution — Flexibility, Scalability, Breadth of Coverage and TCO/ROI.

After extensive research into application and API protection solutions from multiple vendors, GigaOm concluded that the Citrix solution can be deployed “anywhere you might put the bulk — or even one — of your applications.” This highlights the comprehensive nature of the security functionality and the flexibility of the deployment models Citrix offers.

GigaOm is an established and respected analyst firm that looks at solution attributes with an eye to the future. They provide a 360-degree analysis that offers prospective buyers all the information they need to understand the problem and understand the solution and how to implement it.

The Radar Report

In the application security report, GigaOm offers a forward-looking perspective on vendor solutions based on their product’s technical capabilities and feature sets, as well as how well it will serve customers looking for a solution. The GigaOm Radar report examines a vendor’s execution, roadmap, and ability to innovate to plot solutions. The analysis weighs solution maturity versus innovation, and feature play versus platform play on its axes. GigaOm then overlays a series of concentric rings that indicate a vendor’s position as a leader, challenger, or new entrant to the market. GigaOm assigns an arrow to each vendor that projects their future position in 12 to 18 months.

Citrix as a “Leader” and “Fast Mover”

Citrix is solidly in the leader’s ring (closer to the center is better) and is positioned in the mature/platform play quadrant with a fast mover arrow pointing to the “bulls-eye.” This indicates that Citrix is balancing innovation and maturity — and is developing in exactly the right direction for customer needs.

Citrix integrates the “beyond-WAF” functionality (bot management and API security) to benefit from many other essential application security functionality (SSL, AAA etc.), and has expanded to offer a pure service offering with the Citrix Web App and API Protection (CWAAP) service.

GigaOM considers Citrix’s “deploy anywhere and manage everywhere” capability a top-of-market feature that allows customers to protect their applications wherever they deploy them. GigaOm also gives special mention to the Citrix “container form factor (CPX) implementation that allows for container management and internal security enhancements to cloud-native applications.” This helps customers maintain a consistent security posture across different application architectures.

GigaOm’s application security report highlights the Citrix intent-based configuration, which is “aimed at making it easy to get instances up and running and offering applications protection.” GigaOm also praised Citrix’s single-pass architecture, which improves performance and reduces latency.

Flexible, Scalable Breadth of Coverage and TCO/ROI

The Citrix solution offers a platform that provides comprehensive application security with integrated WAF, bot management, and API protection. GigaOm’s statements and their positioning of Citrix as a leader highlight the solution’s stability and ecosystem of users as well as development in line with customer requirements.

Overall, only the Citrix solution is awarded Exceptional across all four categories — Flexibility, Scalability, Breadth of Coverage and TCO/ROI — which reflects “outstanding focus and execution.” We’re excited about this high praise from a top analyst firm that recognizes organizations that put customer needs first.
